Meet the Katahdin Valley Boys

Jeff Folger Jeff is from Sidney, Maine He delivers strong lead and harmony tenor vocals and provides a traditional hard driving banjo style.The traditional sounds of Ralph Stanley, Earl Scruggs and J.D. Crowe have been a major part of his musical influence. Jeff has been performing since 1993 and has been with the Katahdin Valley Boys since 1998.

Wayne Burtt Wayne is from Hermon, Maine. He provides strong lead vocals and gives the band a nice touch of mandolin. His father also played mandolin and guitar and was one of his first influences in music.Wayne has performed with the Katahdin Valley Boys since 1998

Kip Yattaw
Kip is from Port Clyde, America. He provides a unique style of bluegrass fiddle along with lead and harmony vocals. His musical career spans back to the early 1960s playing guitar in country and rock and roll bands. After hearing Mac Wiseman in 1994, Kip was inspired to play the fiddle. He has had the honor of performing several times with Mac Wiseman, the man who influenced his decision to play the fiddle.

Terry Spearrin Terry is originally from East Millinocket, Maine at the foot of Katahdin. A Skowhegan resident since 1990, he has been playing Bluegrass bass in area bands and jams since 1992. Terry previously enjoyed a 7 year run with the band Chairback Gap and has been playing with Good Clean Fill since 1992. His influences include Todd Phillips, Mark Schatz, and Jim Rasmussen. Terry also contributes lead and harmony vocals to enhance the Katahdin Valley Boys sound.

Dale Hodgdon Dale is from Wiscasset, Maine. He provides excellent rhythm and lead picking along with some lead and harmony vocals to enhance the band’s all around sound. He has been involved with bluegrass music since he was ten years old when he started playing his guitar. The traditional sounds of Fred Pike, Doc Watson and Tony Rice have been a major influence on his music.
